Most tourists stay in Tokyo or Kyoto. But the real "Deep Japan" lies elsewhere.
We took our gourmet guests on a special journey to Fukui Prefecture for one specific purpose: To eat the "Echizen Gani" (Echizen Crab) on the very first day of the fishing season.
This is not just a crab. It is the only crab presented to the Imperial Family of Japan. Known as the "King of Crabs," it is the most expensive and delicious crab in the country. We drove all the way to the local port to feast on the freshly caught crab. The meat was sweet, juicy, and packed with flavor that you simply cannot experience in Tokyo.

Walking with Giants: The Dinosaur Kingdom of Fukui.
Fukui is not just about food. It is the land where real dinosaurs once roamed.
More than 80% of dinosaur fossils found in Japan come from this prefecture. They were not just myths; they were here, walking on the same ground.
We stepped into the Fukui Dinosaur Museum, one of the world's top three. The moment we entered, we were transported back 100 million years. Surrounded by massive T-Rex skeletons and life-sized moving dinosaur robots, the sheer scale was breathtaking. It felt less like a museum, and more like Jurassic Park.
